Get ready to bring the terror of Evil Dead Rise home! StudioCanal and Warner Bros. are already gearing up for the digital release of Lee Cronin’s epic horror flick by unleashing the first 10 terror-inducing minutes online. The film has already been terrifying audiences in theatres around the world for a few weeks now. But with Cronin already hard at work recording the director’s commentary for the home release, the studio is striking while the iron is hot!
The preview serves to set the tone for what is arguably the best horror movie of the year so far. In his 4-star review, our reviewer Carl Roberts said “Scary, gory, and with its tongue firmly in its cheek, Evil Dead Rise will thrill Evil Dead fans, and horror fans in equal measure.” But don’t take our word for it. Grab a cushion to hide behind and hit play now!
Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, “Evil Dead Rise” tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
As mentioned above, Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise is playing in theaters everywhere now and deserves to be enjoyed on the big screen. So, be sure to head to your nearest multiplex and experience the terror for yourself. The U.K. home release date for the movie has yet to be announced. But rest assured Force Friends, we’ll update you as soon as we hear more! Fans in the US can enjoy the movie on digital now. The film has been released to rent or to buy with the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K releases to follow on June 27th.
So far, the movie has generated a whopping $100 million at the global box office. Which is impressive considering it only cost $20 million to produce. So let’s hope Evil Dead rights holders Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert greenlight future sequels. But on the strength of these box office numbers, surely that’s only a formality now!
