But with the warmer weather now here and wholesome, fluffier fare filling our screens, the onslaught of horror content is rising to meet the challenge. This month’s content may not be abundant, but it is enough to make us want to hide behind the sofa and remind us why it’s never safe to go back in the water!
NEW RELEASES
On the 14th, the month starts with a thriller. Originally scheduled for June, the unnerving survival story Quicksand lands on the service and plunges us into a chilling story of survival. While on a hike through the rainforest, a storm causes a couple to become trapped in a pit of quicksand. Once ensnared, both must survive the elements, as well as a host of creepy crawlies that want to eat them alive! And rounding out the new releases on the 21st is the hotly-anticipated documentary – Sharksploitation.
This fascinating new documentary explores the weird, wild cinematic legacy of sharks on film in the wake of the impact made by Steven Spielberg’s JAWS. And it promises to be a highlight of our summer watchlist. And finally, July climaxes with the acclaimed annual horror festival – Etheria Film Night 2023. The showcase of new horror, science fiction, and fantasy films comes to a close on July 31st after its exciting launch on July 2, giving us a whole month of ghostly treats to feast on.
But don’t take my word for it. Get ready to hold onto the arm of your chair, scoot to the edge of your seat, and clutch onto your cushions, because Shudder’s horror watchlist for July is packed with spine-tingling jump scares that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
