“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan delivers a riveting and intense season with high stakes, a satisfying ending for this great series.”
After 3 intense seasons, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan returns for its fourth and final season. Unlike previous seasons, this one only has 6 episodes. It premieres this Friday on Prime Video, with two episodes available each Friday leading up to the series finale on July 14. I had the pleasure to watch all the episodes earlier this month. So is this season a satisfying farewell to greatest CIA analyst?
STORY

Season 3 raised the bar to its highest with the threat of a nuclear war. Honestly, you cannot do bigger than this. Nevertheless, the creative team still managed to give us a captivating story. For this final season, Jack Ryan (played by John Krasinski) has to face an enemy both foreign and domestic. This season is packed with everything from corruption, conspiracy to a terrorist organization and a drug cartel. The stakes are high and they keep rising as the story progresses. It is not the threat of a nuclear war but it is still a pretty big threat. As always, this series knows how to keep its audience entertained. You never know how it’s going to go down.
The first three episodes establish the story and slowly builds up the tension like a good old spy thriller. Jack and his team are putting the pieces together while facing their own challenges. The final three episodes are about the resolution of the situation. It goes all in with the action bringing out the big guns. It is an intense and riveting season. After all is said and done, Jack Ryan ends on a satisfying note. Fans of the series won’t be disappointed.
CAST

Moreover, the whole team is back for this final season even Abbie Cornish who played Jack Ryan’s love interest Cathy in season 1. Everyone has their role to play in the story. The dynamic between John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly is just so good. There have been several actors playing Jack Ryan with Harrison Ford being the most memorable one. Though, I think John Krasinski is the best version of the character. After all, he had four seasons to build upon his character. I am also glad Betty Gabriel is back as Elizabeth Wright. She plays an interesting character with different layers. On top of that, Louis Ozawa as Chao Fah and Michael Peña as Domingo Chavez are the highlights among the new cast members and a great addition to the series.
VISUALS & SOUNDTRACK

Once again, this series is taking us around the world, going from Myanmar to Dubrovnik in Croatia. For series that take place in so many different places, it is not always easy to really go to these places. But they actually went and filmed there, they have done that since the beginning. The crew made full use of its surroundings. When watching the episodes, this does make a difference. These are striking visuals that immerse you into the story.
Finally, Ramin Djawadi delivers another good score. He knows how to raise the tension during the action scenes. People often praise him for his work on Games of Thrones, but Djawadi is really great with action thrillers too. He definitely deserves more praise for his score of Jack Ryan.
VERDICT
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan delivers a riveting and intense season with high stakes. This is a satisfying ending for this great series. Four seasons is not a lot for a series like Jack Ryan. They could have surely made a few more seasons. Still, it is good when a series knows when to stop.
