“Star Wars: Ahsoka delivers an action-packed and emotional finale. From start to finish, this has been a blast. This series is Dave Filoni’s masterpiece. Now, all we need is a second season.”
It’s been an incredible blast these past few weeks with Ahsoka, seeing the Star Wars Rebels crew jumping into live-action has been a dream come true, seeing Anakin and Ahsoka interact in live-action, there have been so many surprises! Overall, for Star Wars this has been a great year with The Mandalorian Season 3, The Bad Batch Season 2, and Star Wars Visions Volume 2. There has been something for everyone. But, all good things must come to an end. And so today is the season one finale of Ahsoka and seemingly the last Star Wars content we’ll get on Disney + this year. Undoubtedly, this is a perfect way to end the year for Star Wars.

THE WAY BACK
With Thrawn ready to depart, going back to the known galaxy for Ezra and his friends isn’t an easy task. Thankfully, Ezra has decided to get a new laser sword for the fight ahead. Ezra builds a lightsaber that is reminiscent of Kanan Jarrus’ lightsaber, a beautiful tribute to his former master. This episode is all about trying to stop Thrawn from going back to the known galaxy. So, this is an action-packed finale! All the slow-paced build-up from the first episodes is paying off here. We get some great action sequences.
Moreover, the dynamic between Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine is so good, that they know how to work together! Seeing this many lightsabers at the same time brings back some memories. Throughout the series, there has been an evolution in the relationship between Ahsoka and Sabine. Their link was broken and now, they are really back to being master and apprentice, having learned from their mistakes. Character development at its best.
This series has given us fans of Star Wars animation so much in live-action. But, if you thought this was it, it ain’t over yet. The season finale brings back the undead like we have seen in The Clone Wars. With Nightsisters, it was bound to happen. And without any surprises, it’s really cool! Additionally, we get a mention of Talzin. For fans, it’s always nice to spot the easter eggs and mentions.
Furthermore, it wouldn’t be a finale without a lightsaber duel and it’s Ahsoka who’s getting the role, facing Morgan Elsbeth with her full nightsister power. It’s a much more powerful rematch and another victory for Ahsoka. An epic fight for an action-packed finale!

NUANCED ENDING
There are no victories without sacrifices. And today’s sacrifice is made by Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hyuang who are left behind on Peridea. They will have to find their way back on their own. (But, will they?) Undoubtedly, this is a bittersweet ending as some characters are left behind. Plus, this is also a defeat as Thrawn is back. He has made his way to Dathomir with his secret cargo. I’m guessing the cargo is deceased Nightsisters that will be brought back to life, it would make sense since they took these boxes from the catacombs of Peridea. This is only the beginning.
It’s an emotional finale. The villains have won, and Ezra is reunited with Hera but the lead character and her padawan are left behind. The cherry on the cake is the closing moment of the episode with Anakin’s Jedi spirit. Dave Filoni couldn’t have made a better finale. This reminds me so much of the season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels. Filoni perfectly knows how to make nuanced endings and play with our little hearts.

BAYLAN AND SHIN
In addition, today’s episode is the last performance of the late Ray Stevenson. He only gets a few seconds of screen time in the final moments of the episode showing us what his character was after – the beginning, which is the God of Mortis. I honestly didn’t expect to see a live-action statue of the Father (the Son and the Daughter’s statues are more in ruin), so this is a big surprise. And it is an exciting path ahead for Baylan Skoll. His story clearly isn’t over. So this means he will have to be recast. It is a reality. The question now is which actor has the same presence as Stevenson to replace him? Shin Hati’s story isn’t over as well. A lot is set up for a second season, we need the announcement as soon as possible!

VERDICT
Ahsoka delivers an action-packed and emotional finale. From start to finish, this has been a blast. This series is Dave Filoni’s masterpiece. Now, all we need is a second season.
