Ryan Reynolds leads the cast in writer/ director John Krasinski’s fantasy comedy IF. Hitting screen on May 17th, 2024.
As children, many of us had an imaginary friend. It’s part of childhood and growing up. As well as being a defence mechanism against what lies outside the front door. But as we get older, we abandon these childish things, banishing them from our thoughts. But what if our imaginary friends could be seen by a young child after they’ve been abandoned? What if they were real and had feelings of their own? That’s the interesting premise of writer and director John Krasinski’s summer 2024 movie, IF.

Ryan Reynolds leads an ensemble cast alongside Krasinski himself. Many of the famous names who appear in the film are voice-cast only. With a human cast that includes Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Bobby Moynihan, Alan Kim, and Academy Award Winner Louis Gossett Jr., the film looks to be a charming fantasy that will touch the big kid in all of us. After the debut of the first poster, which can be seen below, the first trailer for the film has been released. It isn’t imaginary as we take our first look.
THE PREMISE
From writer and director John Krasinski, IF is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids. IF stars Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell alongside many more as the wonderfully unique characters that reflect the incredible power of a child’s imagination.

A teaser trailer has been released along with a behind-the-scenes featurette.
THE VOCAL CAST
The vocal cast for the film includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Matt Damon. Emily Blunt, Maya Rudolph, Vince Vaughn. Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Christopher Meloni. Awkwafina, Jon Stewart, Richard Jenkins, and Steve Carell.

John Krasinski writes, directs, stars, and produces the movie. The other producers of the film are Allyson Seeger, Andrew Form, and Ryan Reynolds.

IF will become very real when it opens on May 17th, 2024.
