Annlyel takes a detour into Marvel’s What If Multiverse to present her quickfire review of WHAT IF…NEBULA JOINED THE NOVA CORPS?
As an MCU fan, I’ve never been shy in sharing that WHAT IF…? is one of my favorite new entries in this incredible franchise. When it was officially announced that we would be getting a second season I couldn’t be happier. The wait, however, was excruciating. Well, it’s here now, I’ve seen the first two episodes so far, and I can’t wait to share my daily quickfire reviews of each new and intriguing episode.
NEBULA RETURNS!
Since Nebula’s debut in Guardians of the Galaxy, she has always been one of my favorite characters in the MCU. The What If…? series gets to build off of her established radness and has given her the series’ opening episode, which was an absolute joy to watch. The story of Nebula’s transformation into a faithful Nova Corps officer feels possible, Yon-Rogg’s return was a nice surprise addition to the episode that excited me, and the decision to put Nebula in a Yondu-style trenchcoat with the fin on her head while assembling her ragtag team of Guardians was *chef’s kiss*.
VERDICT
Despite being less than thirty minutes long, this felt like a miniature movie with an arc, and by the time it concluded I knew, WE WERE SO BACK. This was a fantastic way to get audiences back into this series and I can’t wait to see the creativity in the upcoming episodes.
