Ever since Cate Blanchett made her MCU debut as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok she’s always been one of my favorite antagonists. In fact, I was always saddened by the fact that she would only exist for one movie. So, as you can expect, seeing Blanchett come back to reprise her role for this episode was a gleeful delight. One thing I did not expect, however, was for the episode to be as fantastic as it is.
REDEMPTION
Taking inspiration from Thor, this episode offers Hela a fascinating redemption arc that sees her team up with Wenwu who also happens to be one of the coolest characters in the MCU. What transpires over thirty minutes is sheer creative genius, delivering one of the best episodes in the entire series.
Many of the second season’s episodes have been enjoyable but there was something particularly spectacular about this episode that made me hope to see more of this Hela variant in the future.
