Amy Winehouse was a musical legend in her short life. Her legacy has been solidified with hit records like Rehab, You Know I’m No Good, and the classic Back to Black. Sadly, the singer died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27. Since her tragic passing, many people have tried to make a movie biopic of her life. The biopic will be released on April 12th in the UK and May 10th in the US. Its title is one of her most famous hits.
“Back to Black” has been directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, with the screenplay written by Matt Greenhalgh. Actress Marisa Abela portrays Amy Winehouse. Supporting her is Jack O’Connell as Blake Fielder-Civil, Amy’s husband. Juliet Cowan as Janis Winehouse-Collins, Lesley Manville as Cynthia Winehouse. And Eddie Marsan as Mitch Winehouse, Amy’s father. A teaser trailer for the movie was released today.
SYNOPSIS
The film will delve into the life and career of Winehouse, beginning with her early days in the early 2000s as a North London jazz musician and culminating in her rise to fame as a Grammy-winning singer with hit songs like “Rehab” and “Back to Black”.
