Apple TV+ sets March 1 global premiere for new Noel Fielding-led comedy The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.

Apple TV+ today unveiled a first look at its upcoming comedy-adventure series “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.” Starring Noel Fielding (“The Mighty Boosh,” “The Great British Bake Off”) in the titular role as the legendary British highwayman. The six-episode Apple Original will premiere globally on Friday, March 1, 2024, with the first two episodes. Followed by a new episode every Friday through March 29.

THE SERIES

In “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,” Dick Turpin (played by Fielding) becomes the leader of a band of outlaws and embarks on a series of absurd escapades. And tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville).

In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Dick is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers. He achieves success mainly due to his personal charm, talent for showmanship, and impeccable hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Dick rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors. Including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying to escape the clutches of the Thief-Taker.

THE CAST

Starring alongside Fielding in the ensemble cast are Ellie White (“The Windsors”), and Marc Wootton (“High & Dry”). Duayne Boachie (“Blue Story”), Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”), Tamsin Greig (“Episodes”). Asim Chaudhry (“The Sandman”), Dolly Wells (“The Outlaws”), Joe Wilkinson (“Sex Education”). Mark Heap (“Friday Night Dinner”), Geoff McGivern (“Free Rein”), and Michael Fielding (“The Mighty Boosh“). Samuel Leakey (“Gretel & Hansel”), and Kiri Flaherty.

“The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin” is a TV series produced by Apple TV+ and Big Talk Studios, which is part of ITV Studios. The show is created by Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis, and Stuart Lane. With a writing team consisting of Jon Brittain, Richard Naylor, Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis, Stuart Lane, and Noel Fielding. The executive producers are Kenton Allen, Big Talk Studios, Noel Fielding, Victoria Grew, Big Talk Studios, and Ben Palmer. Kenton Allen is a multi-BAFTA Award-winning producer, known for “Rev,” “The Outlaws,” and “Friday Night Dinner,” while Big Talk Studios has produced “Back” and “We Are Not Alone.”

Ben Palmer, the BAFTA TV Award and Rose d’Or Award-winning director of “The Inbetweeners” and “The Inbetweeners Movie”, directs episodes 1-3. Meanwhile, episodes 4-6 are directed by George Kane, who was nominated for the BAFTA TV Award for his work on “Timewasters” and has also directed “Inside No. 9” and “Crashing”. and directed “Inside No. 9” and “Crashing”.
