It’s that time of year again. The finale of the awards season will come with the handing out of the Academy Awards, or as they are best known, the Oscars. The charge towards glory is nearing its end. This year, it is the highly-acclaimed Oppenheimer which leads the way with 13 nominations. Poor Things comes next with a total of 11, followed by Killers Of The Flower Moon with 10 nods. Barbie earns itself 8 nominations with Maestro challenging with 7 nods.
There are a few surprises to boot. Leonardo Di Caprio misses out on a Best Actor nomination. Greta Gerwig misses out on a Best Director Nod alongside Margot Robbie for Best Actress for Barbie. Greta Lee also misses the cut for a nomination as does Zac Efron. No Charles Melton or Willem Dafoe for Best Supporting Actor. No Rachel McAdams in Best Supporting Actress, No Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in Best Animated Film. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse isn’t nominated for Best Original Score. While The Iron Claw, John Wick Chapter 4 and Priscilla received no nominations.
