Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, the first trailer for StudioCanal’s “SOMETHING IN THE WATER” reunites us with our Shark phobias
It’s time to rethink your summer vacation plans because StudioCanal has just dropped the first trailer for the upcoming Shark thriller SOMETHING IN THE WATER. If you’ve overcome your Shark phobia after Jaws, 47 Metres Down, and The Shallows, get ready because another contender is here to bring some terror to our summer fun.
An idyllic destination wedding turns into a battle for survival in this emotionally fraught, action thriller from the brilliant writer Cat Clarke. And if you have a penchant for shark movies featuring a band of unsuspecting victims adrift in open water and at the mercy of nature’s apex predator, you’ve come to the right place. This one looks to be a relative FEAST for the eyes! But before we get to the buffet, hit play on the trailer below.
SYNOPSIS
SOMETHING IN THE WATER follows Meg (Hiftu Quasem, Ten Percent), who tentatively attends the wedding of old friend Lizzie (Lauren Lyle, Outlander) in the Caribbean along with fellow pals Cam (Nicole Rieko Setsuko, Eavesdropping) and Ruth (Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart, One Four Three), plus her former partner Kayla (Natalie Mitson, The Larkins) who she parted ways with after both survived a deeply traumatic event.
NEW POSTER
If the chilling trailer isn’t enough to sink your teeth into, the studio also dropped the first poster for the flick. Check it out below.

RELEASE
Okay, cellar dwellers, we have a new contender for horror/thriller of the summer. And who doesn’t love a good shark flick? After last year’s disappointing MEG 2, I’m ready to cleanse the palette with some visceral shark horror, and Something In The Water looks to be the perfect antidote. Sure the film looks wholly unoriginal, but there is no escaping the terror a shark attack can bring. It is a primal fear ingrained within us all – and that makes for one helluva movie. And I, for one am one hundred percent here for it!
SOMETHING IN THE WATER is produced by Julie Baines and written by Cat Clarke and swims into cinemas in the UK & Ireland on 5 July 2024.
