The prestigious Ray Harryhausen Awards have opened submissions for animated films of all types with reduced entry fees
By the gods! The prestigious RAY HARRYHAUSEN AWARDS has now opened submissions for animated films of all types in the 2024 nominations list. In previous years, the criteria for animation submissions had been limited. But for the 2024 nomination list, the trustees have decided to cast a wider net to encompass all animation types. The new mandate is designed to offer a wider platform for new and upcoming animators to shine. And there is no better platform in the industry. It is the will of Zeus!
Additionally, the organizers have announced a reduction in submission fees for the Harryhausen Awards 2024. Again, the reduction will allow moviemakers of all ages to participate and showcase their craftsmanship to the world. The Best Children’s Film Animation category leads the charge and is available to enter for FREE. But the reductions don’t end there because many of the other categories now boast reduced fees, so there has never been a better time to get involved and present your offerings to the Gods!
SUBMISSIONS
Last year’s edition was phenomenal and saw some incredible films and techniques crowned in their respective fields. And this year’s slate promises to be bigger than the Cyclops and more powerful than the Gods themselves. Encapsulating that fact, here are categories currently looking for candidates.
- Best Feature Film Animation- £30 submission fee
- Best Short Film Animation- £20 submission fee
- Best Student Film Animation- £10 submission fee
- Best Children’s Film Animation- Free entry
- Harryhausen Hall of Fame Award

In related news, the organizers have also announced that the award trophy is getting a fresh new look for 2024. In previous years, the lucky winners were presented with the beautiful Harryhausen Award trophy. The circular treasure featured many of Ray’s most iconic creations, so there is no telling what the new-look award will showcase. But you can bet your last coin that it’ll be worthy of its place in the Cyclops’ treasure chamber.
Previous winners of the Harryhausen Awards include the visionary director Guillermo Del Toro, Mark Gustafson, and special effects legend Phil Tippett. But who will join the prestigious list of winners in 2024? Will the next Ray Harryhausen be discovered among the entrants? All will be revealed when the winners are announced this summer.
