Rise together or fall alone. The world’s biggest monsters unite on the latest posters from Godzilla x Kong
We are just weeks away from the release of GODZILLA x KONG and the titans are preparing for the mother of all showdowns. The film, which pits the two titans against the Skar King – an all-new colossal kaiju is rampaging into cinemas on March 29th. Today, Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have released two new posters to promote the upcoming monster smackdown. The dazzling new one-sheets feature our monstrous heroes as they charge into battle side by side.
The first poster, an IMAX-exclusive features both Godzilla and Kong as they rampage across the deserts of Egypt. But in what will undoubtedly become synonymous with the film, Kong uses the pyramids at Giza to gain extra momentum. The second poster will tickle the pickle of monster fans everywhere. The one-sheet features the titular monsters as they unite for the first time on film and charge into action. What’s more, Kong is wielding his new mechanical gauntlet which is a shoo-in to do some serious damage to his opponents. But before we roar into action, scroll down and explore these glorious new posters for yourself.

THE MONSTERVERSE
For this outing, Adam Wingard is returning to the director’s chair. As are many familiar faces from his last adventure. Returning cast members include Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia. Newcomers to the MonsterVerse include Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House. Adam Wingard saturated the last adventure in magnificent neon colors, and it looks as if this outing will do the same. And of course, it’s great to see some familiar faces from Godzilla vs Kong.
But let’s face it, the Titans are the real stars of this show. And the Skar King – a colossal kaiju ape is on hand to challenge our two titans for supremacy this time around! The Skar King is described as “a devilish, Kong-type character” by Adam Wingard. In a recent interview with IGN, the director spoke about creating a creature that could rival both Godzilla and Kong. He said, “There’s a lot more to this character and how he’s a threat, and that’s going to be something that’s going to be fun to kind of dole out.”

MONARCH REIGNS
Of course, fans of the Kaiju fun don’t need to wait until March 29th to explore the legacy of the MonsterVerse. Apple TV+’s sensational series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is currently streaming on the platform and delivers a masterclass of storytelling. In my glowing review, I said “MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS is a revelation. It boasts standout performances from its cast, a compelling storyline, and adds some much-needed gravitas to the MonsterVerse as a whole. Although the series utilizes some of the franchise’s biggest stars, this story is about the incredible individuals responsible for creating Monarch as a whole. As well as the fabric of the entity itself. What we are rewarded with is a gloriously compelling series that is rich in story, light on disappointment, and colossal in monster action.” Read my full review here.

RELEASE
How Adam Wingard’s latest blockbuster will affect the landscape of the MonsterVerse remains to be seen. But with Kong looking to obtain his crown and Godzilla looking to cement his reign, the Skar King is in for the fight of his life. And in this universe – KONG IS KING!
