The 33rd Annual Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards take place on Monday, March 25th at London’s SohoPlace Theatre.

As previously announced, the 32ndĀ Annual Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards ceremony will be taking place on the afternoon of Monday 25thĀ March at the same venue as 2023 –Ā @sohoplace theatreĀ in London.

Ā The event will unite critics and creatives alike in a celebration of the very best British theatre has had to offer over the past year. The Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards allows the country’s most senior theatre critics a chance to celebrate the work which has impressed them most. With critics making citations from their most positive reviews. The Critics’ Circle has a long history of spotting talent early, with previous winners of the Jack Tinker Award for Most Promising Newcomer including Oscar winners Eddie Redmayne, Rachel Weisz, Sam Mendes and Daniel Kaluuya.

PRESENTERS

Faith Omole and Akiya Henry, who are currently performing in the Almeida’s King Lear, Ā­are among the stars of current London shows who will take to the stage to present the evening’s winners with their awards. They’ll be joined by Giles Terera (Hamilton, Othello), and Isabella Pappas (Stranger Things). Arthur Hughes (Shardlake) and Tracy-Ann Oberman (The Merchant of Venice 1936) to name only a few.

GUESTS IN ATTENDANCE

Guests in attendance at the ceremony will include Andrew Scott (Vanya), Sophie Okonedo (Medea), and Zadie Smith (The Wife of Willesden). Marisha Wallace (Guys and Dolls, Celebrity Big Brother), John McCrea (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Gethin Antony (Game of Thrones). Hammed Animashaun (Black Ops) and Patrick Vail (Oklahoma!) among others.

WHY AM I SO SINGLE?

Guests will be treated to an exclusive preview of Why Am I So Single? The forthcoming new musical from Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, creators of SIX. The preview is a return full circle for Marlow and Moss. Before it went on to break records on Broadway, SIX initially previewed to critics as an unknown show at the 2017 Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards.

EMPTY SPACE PETER BROOK AWARD

The winner of the Empty Space Peter Brook Award will be among those revealed. Launched last year in partnership with critic and producer Blanche Marvin MBE, the award recognises a theatre space that embodies the spirit of the late theatre director Peter Brook both in its use of space and in its relationship to its locality.
