Michael Keaton returns as the ghost with the most in the first images from BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE!

It’s been 35 years since the ghost with the most last graced our screens, but at long last, Tim Burton via (EW) has finally gifted us our first look at BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE. Rumors have been circulating about the imminent release of the first trailer. However, while we wait, Entertainment Weekly has shared our first look at the long-gestating sequel.

The recently released first-look images depict Michael Keaton in full makeup, seemingly inside the Maitland’s attic from the original film. However, upon closer inspection, the highly detailed miniature model town appears to have been updated to include a miniature solar system model. The second image reveals Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz alongside Catherine O’Hara, who returns as Lydia’s stepmother, Delia. Additionally, the image provides our first look at Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux! Check out the photos below.

HERE LIES BETELGEUSE

The sequel to Beetlejuice has been in development limbo since the early 1990s, with different creatives pitching their ideas for the film. Some of these pitches have been better received than others. However, after a long wait, Tim Burton has finally agreed to bring Beetlejuice back for another spooky adventure. And it promises to be a doozy. The sequel has been written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, co-creators and co-showrunners of Netflix’s Wednesday. Longtime collaborator Danny Elfman is returning to compose the score with Brad Pitt’s Plan B producing the sequel for Warner Bros.

Naturally, Michael Keaton returns as the legendary Beetlejuice and collaborates with Tim Burton again. Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara are returning cast members as Lydia Deetz and Delia, respectively. Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and Justin Theroux are new additions to the franchise. Rounding out the cast is Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter.

Sadly, details about the sequel are a closely guarded secret, known only to those in the afterlife. But with Michael Keaton returning as Beetlejuice and Monica Bellucci starring as his wife, maybe some marital hijinks are on the cards. Either way, all will be revealed when Beetlejuice 2 unleashes the sandworms in cinemas on September 6, 2024.
