NEW RELEASES

Surprisingly, the platform will be releasing only two new movies in May. However, these movies are pretty significant. The first movie, Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever, is a horror movie that will be released on the 17th. It promises to be a chilling experience as it takes us back into the Nightwatch universe and reunites us with the psychopathic police inspector Wörmer, whom we met in the previous installment. Rounding out the month’s new releases is Stopmotion. In the film, a young stop-motion animator struggles to maintain her sanity as her creations come to life and threaten to destroy her.

And all that before we get into the new additions to Shudder’s customary film library. If you were hoping to be dragged down the rabbit hole of the Toxic Avenger, you’re in for a real treat. But don’t just take my word for it. Grab the arm of your chair, move to the edge of your seat, and grab the cushions!

Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever

22-year-old medical student Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal) has just taken a job as the night watch in the same forensic department where her parents were once almost killed by the famed psychopathic police inspector Wörmer. The events led to her mother’s suicide, and her father Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has turned to tranquilizers to suppress the memories. Determined to investigate what exactly happened to them, Emma tracks down and confronts Wörmer, only to unintentionally reawaken his bloodthirst and ignite a violent revenge on everyone who sealed his destiny years ago. Streaming on Friday 17 May.

Stopmotion

Ella Blake is a stop-motion animator who is struggling to control her demons after the loss of her overbearing mother. Suddenly alone in the world, she embarks upon the creation of a macabre new puppet film, which soon becomes the battleground for her sanity. As Ella’s mind starts to fracture, the characters in her animated film take on a terrifying life of their own, and the unleashed power of her imagination threatens to destroy her. Starring Aisling Franciosi, Tom York and Jaz Hutchins..  Streaming on Friday 31 May.
