Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe star in director Robert Eggers’ remake of the classic Nosferatu.
Coming to screens in the United States on December 25th, the long-gestating remake of the classic 1922 horror movie Nosferatu will be baring its fangs. The movie is the second remake, and Robert Eggers both wrote and directed it. The cast for this new and exciting version includes Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, and Lily-Rose Depp. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson. Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe. For those not in the know, the remake, like the 1979 adaptation Nosferatu the Vampyre, is the unauthorized and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. The film comes our way from Focus Features in the United States and Universal Pictures internationally.
The film’s development has been a labour of love for Eggers since 2015. Anya Taylor-Joy, who Eggers directed in The Witch, was originally linked to the project. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, she had to exit, paving the way for Lily-Rose Depp to take over the role. Eggers’ script draws inspiration from Henrik Galeen’s Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The first trailer for the film has now been unveiled. So, clutch your crucifix and garlic; let’s dive in.
