Hot Toys Review | Spider-Man (New Red and Blue Suit) (Spider-Man: No Way Home)

“The new red and blue suit is the ultimate Tom Holland Hot Toys Spider-Man figure. It has a fantastic diorama base and the perfect Tom Holland headsculpt!”

The final Hot Toys Spider-Man figure from Spider-Man: No Way Home is here at last! And it seems fitting that it is Tom Holland’s final This from the film. This new red and blue suhas two versions it has two versions – a bas oneone and a deluxe one. The latter comes with a snowy rooftop diorama base.

THE BOX AND ACCSSORIES

Even though, we only see this suit after the Multiverse stuff happens, Hot Toys has kept the same box design as the other No Way Home figures. This means that there’s a mystic arts portal opening with Doc Ock’s tentacles coming out of it along with Green Goblin’s pumpkin bomb and Electro’s lightning. There are also some snowflakes here and there as we see this suit during Christmas. As usual, you get a beautiful promotional drawing of the character at the center of the box. In addition, there are two pictures of the actual figure on the side of the box.

It’s a Spider-Man figure, so you get the usual accessories, plus this excellent diorama base. It’s a snowy rooftop of a New York building. To recreate that NYC vibe, you need some elements, and this base has all of them – a ladder, a red brick chimney, an air conduct, the top of a double-hung window, and a rooftop ledge. Lots of details there, and a fantastic paint app! The cherry on the cake is the snow. They found a type of material that really makes you feel that it’s snow. It feels dense. However, don’t touch the snow too much, as there will be small grains left on your fingers, like sand. It’s rough, and it gets everywhere (if you get the reference). Honestly, it’s the best Spider-Man base we have ever had. It’s big enough to be imposing but not too big either, so it doesn’t take up too much space in your collection. The base comes with a dynamic stand, so be careful with that. With that kind of base, you don’t need the stand, you find plenty of poses where the figure can stand on the base.

SPIDER-HANDS!

Then, he has ten hands – a pair of fist hands, two gesture hands, another pair of gesture hands, one hand to hold the mask, one to hold a web effect, and two shooting web hands. You can attach web shooters to these hands and insert the usual spider web strings. Speaking of spider webs, you get the usual six strings of spider web and an open spider web effect. There is an empty Spider-Man mask to use when you display the figure with the Tom Holland headsculpt. Finally, as with all the Tom Holland Spider-Man figures, you get four pairs of interchangeable Spider-Man eyes!

THE FIGURE

Hot Toys Spider-Man

It’s my favorite Tom Holland Spider-Man suit. This one is more simple and uses the classic Spider-Man colors. It still has the MCU aesthetic while taking inspiration from the Amazing Spider-Man and the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. I love the vibrant shade of blue chosen here; it pops. Because it is a Spider-Man figure, I recommend not leaving your figure in the same action pose for a long period, otherwise the suit will be damaged. Even the instruction sheet clearly states it.

Since Peter Parker made the suit by himself, I like what they did with the stitching at the back, it has that home-made vibe. The sleeves tend to make the hand joint visible; you just have to pull them back when changing the hands, and it should do the trick. At least, it works for me. I recently reviewed the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man figure, which had an awfully visible seam line, so I looked closely at this one, and it is so much better! The stitching also ends at the front but it’s barely visible because they did better work at hiding it. It’s closer to the web line, which allows the seam to blend with it. That’s how you do it! The separation between the neck and the rest of the figure is quite visible, but the web lines align, so it’s not shocking or annoying.

THE HEADSCULPT

Hot Toys re-used Yulli Choi’s headsculpt quite a few times; there is no denying that it was a fantastic headsculpt. But we needed a new one, and we finally got it! This brand new headsculpt was made by Tae Ho Kang and painted by JC Hong. It’s absolute perfection. It looks exactly like Tom Holland. Undoubtedly, this is the ultimate Tom Holland headsculpt!

The hair sculpture is absolutely on point, too. Plus, this one also has separate rolling eyeballs. I couldn’t be happier with this headsculpt. On top of that, like for Tobey and Andrew, they made a neck with the skin visible and a part of the suit, so it actually is accurate. This is the first time, they do this with a Tom Holland figure.
