This Hot Toys Imperial Commando figure, except for the shoulder pads, is fantastic overall. It’s a must-have for any Clone Wars enthusiast looking to expand their collection.
The first Clone Commando figure from Hot Toys is finally here! This is the Imperial Commando, as seen in The Bad Batch. Only 2,500 pieces are available in select markets. But is it worth shelling out for?

THE BOX
This is your usual Star Wars box with a promotional picture of the figure and the Star Wars logo. For Bad Batch figures, there is a red colored strip with two additional photos of the figure. Since it’s an exclusive figure, you get the Sideshow exclusive sticker if you got it from Sideshow or the Hot Toys exclusive sticker if you got it from the Asian market.
There is also a warning sticker about coin batteries only for Sideshow. It’s annoying that they put it at the front instead of the back with the usual product information. Of course, you can remove it, but they went heavy with the glue on this one so that some glue may be left on your box afterward. Why this sticker? The US passed a law that requires toy companies to have a warning about batteries. This warning is also inside the box next to the instruction sheet. The coin batteries are packed with a third warning. This one even provides a US emergency number in case you or your children were to swallow any of the coin batteries included. Usually, coin batteries were with the figure’s accessories, but they are now with the instruction sheet.

ACCESSORIES
You don’t get much in terms of accessories, just the essentials for a commando. The display base is your usual Star Wars interior base. It’s a simple one that works with almost every figure. Then, he has six hands—two hands to hold the blaster, two relaxed hands, one pointing finger, and one open hand.
As for the weapons, he has the DC-17m interchangeable weapon system. That’s the basic blaster for clone commandos. It’s the same one that came with Hunter and Wrecker. It has an excellent paint app with some weathering on the silver parts. The figure also comes with a full thermal detonator and a half one. Finally, he has his backpack, which works with a magnet. It’s the same backpack that came with Hunter. You can open the top to store the detonators.

THE FIGURE
Since we saw Clone Commandos in The Bad Batch, I have wanted Hot Toys to make one of them, and it finally happened! We are also getting Commander Scorch and potentially a white Commando. Overall, the figure looks great in hand. I like the grey markings; they give an imperial vibe, and the placement of the markings is reminiscent of the Coruscant Guards. It’s mostly a kitbash of Hunter, as he has a similar armor. However, there is one problem – the shoulder pads. Commandos have bulkier shoulder pads and are not supposed to be up but down. Honestly, this is my only complaint about this figure.
The helmet is brand new, and Hot Toys has nailed it. It looks beautiful. Even if you don’t turn on the light function on the visor, they painted it in a way that still looks good. If you turn on the lights, it looks even better! I’m surprised they didn’t use the USB-powered function for this one. They could have installed the USB system under the backpack; it would have worked fine. And we would have avoided the three warnings about coin batteries.

This is a great first Clone Commando figure, except for the shoulder pads. It will be a nice addition to your clone collection.
