A New Poster For Joker: Folie A Deux Gives Us The Last Laugh!

The latest poster for Joker: Folie A Deux teases the folly of two and the shared psychosis between Joker and Harley Quinn

Warner Bros has put a smile on our faces by dropping a new poster for Joker: Folie A Deux. Todd Phillips’ sequel to his runaway DC blockbuster is laughing into cinemas on October 4th, and the studio is having the last laugh. The new one-sheet highlights the shared psychosis of Arthur Fleck and Harleen Qunizel as they explore the folly of two.

Joaquin Phoenix is returning as Arthur Fleck / Joker, with Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond. Lady Gaga is joining in as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn. The movie is a massive departure for the character because it’s been earmarked as a musical. They’re planning to include 15 musical numbers and some new songs. Hildur Guðnadóttir, who won an Oscar for her music in the first movie, is back to compose the score. But before we laugh at the concept, scroll down and check out the poster below.

THE LAST LAUGH

Sadly, the director has confirmed that Joker: Folie A Deux will be the last hurrah for this character in the outgoing DC slate. With the newly minted DC Studios now taking shape and about to relaunch the DC Universe under James Gunn, there is a blank canvas to be explored. Not that Gunn has sidelined Arthur Fleck’s adventures in DC’s Elseworlds. Todd Phillips thinks that Arthur Fleck’s story has reached its natural conclusion: “I think we’ve said what we wanted to say in this world.”

RELEASE

If the recently released trailer has taught us anything, it is never to second-guess Todd Phillips. His ambitious vision of DC’s greatest villain delivered cinematic gold for the first outing, so we should expect big things from the sequel. Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal as The Joker in 2019 was a masterclass, and expanding the role in the sequel is an enticing prospect. Finally, the addition of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn adds a layer of icing to the already rich cake, and the combination, on paper, is a recipe for success. How it translates to the screen is anyone’s guess. But who would bet against this trifecta of talent pulling a rabbit out of the hat and making us the laughingstocks? Either way, they will have the last laugh.
