In September, Shudder is bringing us “In A Violent Nature.” Brace yourself for a thrilling ride through September’s top horror picks!
As the nights draw in and the seasons change, Shudder has curated a collection of spine-chilling content to captivate horror enthusiasts. With Halloween right around the corner, the horror streamer is going above and beyond to provide an impressive selection of horror fare for the cellar dwellers among us.
There are only three new releases this September, but they are enough to keep us on the edge of our seats. And if that’s not exciting enough, we can also look forward to some classic chilling films being added to the platform. These films will include thrilling features with sharks, supernatural infestations, and taboo folk songs, perfect for those who love blood and monsters.
NEW RELEASES
It’s disappointing that only a few new releases will be available on the service this September. However, despite the limited number, the quality of the available content is worth the wait. They’re digging into the horror section and pulling out some hidden gems. The new movies include “Oddity,” a spooky story about cursed collectibles that bring death and destruction wherever they go, and Steven Boyle’s “The Demon Disorder,” about a family possessed by their deceased father’s spirit. However, rounding out the big releases is this year’s runaway horror hit, IN A VIOLENT NATURE. The film highlights the murderous rampage of a vengeful spirit that manifests in a rotting corpse in the woods. Expect some chilling and brutal murders of some unsuspecting teens.
Also, exciting additions are coming to Shudder’s backdated archive collection. This anthology of horror gems continues to grow monthly, and September has unearthed another batch of horror classics. If you enjoy a classic shark attack movie, you’re in for a real treat. But don’t just take my word for it. Get ready to be on the edge of your seat and grab the cushions for an extra thrill!
The Demon Disorder – Film Premieres on Shudder and AMC+ Friday 6 September
The Australian demonic family drama centers on Graham, a man haunted by his past since the death of his father and the estrangement from his two brothers. Jake, the middle brother, contacts Graham claiming that something is horribly wrong: their youngest brother Phillip is possessed by their deceased father. Graham reluctantly agrees to go and see for himself. With the three brothers back together, they soon realize they are unprepared for the forces against them and learn that the sins of their past will not stay hidden. But how do you defeat a presence that knows you inside and out? An anger so powerful it refuses to stay dead? Written and directed by Steven Boyle and starring John Noble (The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy), Charles Cottier, Christian Willis, and Dirk Hunter.
Oddity – Film Premieres on Shudder and AMC+ Friday 27 September
When Dani is brutally murdered at the remote country house that she and her husband Ted are renovating, everyone suspects a patient from the local mental health institution, where Ted is a doctor. However, soon after the tragic killing, the suspect is found dead. A year later, Dani’s blind twin sister Darcy, a self-proclaimed psychic and collector of cursed items, pays an unexpected visit to Ted and his new girlfriend, Yana. Convinced that there was more to her sister’s murder than people know, Darcy has brought with her the most dangerous items from her cursed collection to help her exact revenge. From writer/director Damian McCarthy (Caveat) and starring Carolyn Bracken and Gwilym Lee.

When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem homes in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way. Groundbreaking gruesome slasher from writer and director Chris Nash (ABCs of Death 2).
