PREMISE
In a Belgian village during the tumultuous start of World War I, the Lambert family finds themselves thrust into the heart of the conflict in “The Last Front.” At the centre of this story is Leonard Lambert (Glen). A devoted husband and father who grapples with the overwhelming responsibility of protecting his family amidst the chaos of war.
As German forces advance and the village is engulfed in turmoil, Leonard must navigate the intricate dynamics within his family. Balancing his duty as a father with the urgent need to ensure their survival.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT
I want to stay away from the traditional black-and-white good guys versus bad guys trope that we often see in simplified storytelling. War is not only a crime against humanity; it is a crime against nature. Nature does not allow us to enjoy our lives with the assumption that we can when in conflict, destroy everything beautiful and replace it with darkness. War is not a law of nature. It’s an aberration. As a filmmaker, when I approached this subject, I had to figure out a way to convey this complex reality. I believe in the philosophy that good and evil are not absolute; everything has shades of gray.
There is an ambivalence in the characters’ journeys. Leonard Lambert is a father who, when violence is inflicted upon him, takes up arms even though he never wanted to. On the other side, there are soldiers in the platoon of a madman who are in shock and disbelief about what is happening. But are unable to do anything about it. This ambivalence makes it difficult for the audience to discern a clear moral path in the world of “The Last Front.” This film, set against the backdrop of a village’s defiance during a brutal occupation, is a narrative that I felt compelled to tell. It’s a story of love and loss. Of courage in the face of insurmountable odds, and the unyielding strength of community.
