Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore head the cast in Pedro Almodóvar’s English-language debut movie, The Room Next Door. Watch the trailer here.

Famed Spanish writer and director Pedro Almodóvar is making his English-language full-length debut in October. His new movie, The Room Next Door, starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore alongside John Turturro and Alessandro Nivola, opens in his native Spain on October 18th. The film won the Golden Lion Award at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. This is the first time a Spanish film has won the award. Almodóvar’s movie is a drama, the kind Almodóvar is best known for and is a master at bringing to audiences worldwide. The trailer for the film has been made available. PREMISE

Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth. When they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter. And they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.

ALSO STARRING

As well as the four main leads, the film stars Juan Diego Botto. Melina Matthews. Raúl Arévalo. Victoria Luengo. Esther McGregor. Alex Høgh Andersen and Alvise Rigo. The film is based on the novel What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez. Pedro Almodóvar writes and directs with the film produced by Agustín Almodóvar and Esther García.

The Room Next Door opens in Spain on October 18th and in the UK on October 25th.
