THE TOP TEN

This week sees one new entry and two re-entries into the chart. As such, we bid a fond farewell to Joker, The Hitcher, and The Bikeriders. But what are these three arrivals, and where have they entered? Time to find out. LFG!

DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE DIG THEMSELVES IN AT THE TOP!

It’s a second big week at Number 1 for Deadpool & Wolverine on the Official Film Chart. The Marvel Studios sequel outsells the rest of the Top 20 combined as it extends its reign on digital download sales only. (Read our review here.)

DO YOU FANCY A TRIP ON THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER?

This week’s highest new entry is The Last Voyage of the Demeter at Number 3. The supernatural horror is based on a single chapter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula and sees the crew of a chartered ship faced with strange and terrifying events as they ship 24 mysterious, unmarked wooden crates to the UK…

IN THE CHART, EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM!

And that is all for the chart for this week. Of course, the biggest new release of the week comes in the scary form of our favourite Xenomorph in Alien: Romulus. The film, directed by Fede Álvarez, is now available to rent or buy on PVOD. Set between the events of the original Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), the film is a brilliantly enjoyable return to form for the franchise. I do have one bugbear with the film, however. To my mind, there isn’t enough of the creature we have come to know and love/hate/fear. The first half of the film features the Facehuggers mostly (Pun intended!) with the Xenomorph itself featuring in the second half. But no matter what, the film is a brilliant piece of entertainment. If you fancy a night with the creatures, rent the film for £15.99 or buy it early for £19.99.

While the Aliens may leap into the chart next week, I can’t see them bothering Deadpool & Wolverine at the top of the chart. Nothing will knock them off from the top spot for a while as the film is due out on the physical formats before the month is over. We can expect to see some horror titles make their yearly appearance as we head towards Halloween. Who and what they will be, we have to wait and see. So, until next week…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!
