Jennifer Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi produce Sahra Mani’s powerful documentary feature, Bread And Roses. Coming soon to Apple TV+

Coming to Apple TV+ on November 22nd is the documentary film Bread And Roses. The film tells the story of women in Afghanistan and the role of the Taliban. The documentary features footage from Sharifa, an ex-government employee forced indoors, Zahra, a woman organizing activists in her dentistry practice, and Taranom, who seeks refuge in Pakistan. The documentary is directed by Sahra Mani of “A Thousand Girls Like Me,” fame. And produced by Jennifer Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi. It has recently unveiled its trailer.

ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY

Apple Original Films’ “Bread & Roses” offers a powerful window into the seismic impact on women’s rights and livelihoods after Kabul fell to the Taliban in 2021. The documentary film follows three women, in real-time, as they fight to recover their autonomy. Director Sahra Mani captures the spirit and resilience of Afghan women through a raw depiction of their harrowing plight.

“Bread & Roses,” an Eyan Foundation presentation. In association with Extracurricular, is produced by Jennifer Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi with Sahra Mani. Alongside executive producers Malala Yousafzai and Farhad Khosravi. Mani directs the film.
