Moana 2 Makes Waves as it Opens at No.1 at the Box Office

Audiences go beyond to watch the Moana sequel on the big screen!

Audiences were hooked on opening weekend as beloved Moana and Maui returned to the big screen in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ highly anticipated sequel Moana 2. With wind in its sails, Moana 2 blew into cinemas becoming the biggest animated opening of 2024. Indeed, it opened at No.1 taking in £12M at the UK & Ireland box office and accounting for 45% of all ticket sales across the three-day weekend. The epic animated feature has also become the 3^rd biggest opening of 2024 in the UK & Ireland.

Moana 2 also opened to a record breaking global cume of $386.3M ($221.0M Domestic and $165.3M International), beating Frozen II previous record of $358.5M for the November box office. Furthermore, Moana 2 had the 2^nd highest opening weekend at the global box office in 2024 to date, behind only Deadpool & Wolverine.
