Moana 2 Continues to Ride the Wave Holding Its No.1 Spot At The Box Office

The sequel continues to go ‘beyond’ and reach new heights as it becomes the 5th biggest global release of 2024 to date!

The stunning animation remains at the number 1 spot at the UK & Ireland box office, taking £6.9M in its second weekend, accounting for 36% of ticket sales. It also remains at the number 1 spot at the US box office, earning $51.3M for this same weekend. Surpassing Moana’s final global cume ($582), Moana 2 has reached a total cume of $600M globally and £21.5M in UK & Ireland to date. This is the 5th biggest gloval release of the year to date.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 reunites Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. Moana 2 isn’t able to reach the emotional heights of the original. The story is rushed and feels like a setup for the next adventure rather than being its own thing. However, it’s still an entertaining adventure with catchy new songs and stunning animation.
