We here at The Future Of The Force Towers LOVE the John Wick Movies. There’s just something about them that we can’t help but love and enjoy. After the last film, John Wick Chapter 4 (Read our review here), we were concerned that it was all over. With the release of The Continental (Read our review here), it seemed as if the franchise was over. Not so. As well as a fifth chapter of the main franchise in the planning stages, a spin-off film featuring Donnie Yen’s character of Caine is also in the works. But up first is another spin-off movie, From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina.
Ana de Armas takes over the role of the title character from Unity Phelan, who portrayed the character in Chapter 3 – Parabellum. In the film, ballerina-assassin Eve (Armas) hunts those who killed her family. The film also features appearances from franchise staples, such as Ian McShane as Winston Scott, Lance Reddick as Charon in his final screen role, and Keanu Reeves as John Wick. Anjelica Huston as “The Director” also appears during the film. Newcomers to the franchise include Gabriel Byrne. Catalina Sandino Moreno. Norman Reedus. Sharon Duncan-Brewster and David Castañeda. The new trailer for the film has been released.
PREMISE
Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
CREDITS
The film is directed by Len Wiseman and is based on a screenplay by Shay Hatten. It is based on characters created by Derek Kolstad. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski handle the production duties. Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard provide the film’s music. Summit Entertainment, Thunder Road Films, and 87North Productions are the production companies behind the film. Lionsgate is once again handling the distribution of the film.
