The acclaimed feature film debut by writer/ director Daisy-May Hudson, Lollipop is heading to cinemas in the UK & Ireland from MetFilm Distribution.
MetFilm Distribution is pleased to announce the UK & Ireland cinema release of writer/director Daisy-May Hudson’s acclaimed feature film debut, LOLLIPOP. Starring Posy Sterling, Idil Ahmed and Terriann Cousins. The moving, emotional and uplifting film releases in cinemas nationwide on Friday, June 13th.
PREMISE
LOLLIPOP tells the story of a young mother, Molly (Sterling), who emerges from prison after serving four months. And assumes it will be a matter of hours before she can pick up her children from foster care. Instead, Molly finds herself in the mother of all catch-22s. She can’t get housing because she doesn’t have her kids living with her. But she can’t get them back without a roof over her head.
When Molly reconnects with her childhood friend and fellow single mother, Amina (Ahmed), the two women join forces and take destiny into their own hands. LOLLIPOP is a film about finding joy in life’s hardest moments. And what it means to have the courage to fight for your family, even when you feel like you’ve got nothing left.

Set in East London and backed by BBC FILM and the BFI (awarding National Lottery funding). LOLLIPOP marks BAFTA-Breakthrough Daisy-May Hudson’s scripted feature film debut. It follows her award-winning documentary HALF WAY, which captured her family’s experiences of homelessness over a two-year period. LOLLIPOP is rooted in the same level of authenticity and lived experience. And features a powerhouse central performance from newcomer Posy Sterling.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Olivier Kaempfer and Cecilia Frugiuele produced LOLLIPOP under their Parkville Pictures banner. Its world premiere was at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2024, where it was met with critical acclaim. BAFTA-winner Lucy Pardee (Aftersun, Rocks, Bird, Fish Tank, American Honey) casts the film.

Lollipop will be in UK & Ireland cinemas on Friday, June 13th.
