Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise the Clown in the HBO Max prequel horror series, IT: Welcome To Derry. Watch the teaser trailer here.
You’ll Float Too! We All Float Down Here! Those chilling words have echoed in our darkest thoughts ever since master storyteller Stephen King first published his superb novel, IT, in 1986. The frightening story told the tale of Pennywise the Clown. An entity that murdered children and created mayhem in the town of Derry over the centuries. It fed into our childhood fears and led us to avoid drains: the local dump and everything we enjoyed as children. After the brilliant 1990 two-part TV adaptation of the novel, featuring Tim Curry as Pennywise, the property got updated with the recent big screen movies IT and IT: Chapter Two. Bill Skarsgård gave a masterclass of horror as Pennywise in an almost faithful adaptation of King’s arguable masterpiece.
The horror will return on HBO Max later this year. IT: Welcome to Derry is a prequel to the two movies. The horror series takes place in the 1960s before the film’s events and will also include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown. The cast includes Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, and Stephen Rider. But the best news is that Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise in the series, adding gravitas to the project. The teaser trailer for the series has emerged from the sewers of Derry.
