Sony Pictures hooks its fans with a new poster for I Know What You Did Last Summer. Will we get the ending we deserve?
“I Know What You Did Last Summer.” Those words chilled the world back in 1997 with the release of the very first movie in the franchise. Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr., the film became a box-office hit. A sequel soon followed, minus Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe, whose characters died in the original movie. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer again featured Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Muse Watson, alongside new cast members Brandy, Mekhi Phifer, Bill Cobbs, Matthew Settle, Jennifer Esposito, Jack Black, Jeffrey Combs, and John Hawkes. I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, a direct-to-video supernatural slasher movie, followed in 2006, boasting none of the original cast members. And was a pretty poor affair.
Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.) must really have upset someone again. The new sequel, given the title of I Know What You Did Last Summer (Hey, it worked for Halloween back in 2018), is coming this summer. A new generation of youngsters joins the two surviving characters from the first two films. All ready to be hacked up like fish bait. It is a follow-up to the second film and the fourth film in the franchise. The film is set for release on July 18th. The new poster for the film has appeared and has us hooked.
THE PREMISE
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them, and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth. Someone knows what they did last summer. And is hell-bent on revenge. One by one, the friends are stalked by a killer, and they discover this has happened before. They must turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
