The Cast List for Spaceballs 2: The Schwartz Awakens Expands

The Schwartz brings families together. Lewis Pullman is expected to join his father, Bill, in the cast of Spaceballs 2: The Schwartz Awakens.

The cast list for Spaceballs 2: The Schwartz Awakens has become a family affair. Yesterday, we dropped the first teaser for the long-awaited sequel. It was confirmed that Bill Pullman and Mel Brooks are returning to reprise their roles in the film. But in a jaw-dropping announcement, it was also confirmed that Rick Moranis will be coming out of retirement. He will reprise his role as the infamous Dark Helmet. Ordinarily, the teaser and cast announcement would be enough to have us jamming our radars. But overnight, THR has reported that Lewis Pullman is in talks to join the cast alongside his father, Bill.

A FAMILY AFFAIR

The younger Pullman will portray Starburst, the son of Queen Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman). While the plot of the film remains a closely guarded secret, only known to the defenders of the Schwartz, the project is described as: “A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.”

Sadly, John Candy, Dick Van Patten, Lorene Yarnell and Joan Rivers have passed on. Additionally, there is no news on whether Daphne Zuniga, as Princess Vespa, or George Wyner, as Colonel Sandurz, will also be returning. But with Josh Gad in the driving seat and the creative brilliance of Mel Brooks steering the project home, the sequel has the makings of a sensational continuation.

Spaceballs 2 Is Coming In 2027

THERE GOES THE PLANET!

The original Spaceballs was a rare gem, a truly hilarious parody made all the more sensational by the brilliance of Mel Brooks. I am delighted to see the legendary writer and director returning for the sequel. Already, Josh Gad has pulled a miracle out of the bag by bringing some of the original cast back into the fold. Especially Rick Moranis, a Hollywood legend. Rick has been retired for decades and has refused to return to other projects, such as Ghostbusters: Afterlife. So, his return is a landmark event in itself. Should Gad manage to secure the return of Daphne Zuniga and George Wyner, then Spaceballs 2 will become the must-see film of the year. We will be among the first in line to see it.

Legendary digital artist BossLogic just dropped some exciting news—he’s working on the new film! He even revealed the first poster, and it features Rick Moranis’ helmet all patched up with band-aids. Check it out below!
