Jon Bernthal's The Punisher Joins the Cast of Spider-Man A New Day

Look out, Marvel fans, the cast list of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is taking shape as MJ, Ned, and Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher join Peter Parker’s new adventure!

A group of brave heroes is joining the cast of characters for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sadie Sink joined the cast some time ago, but the details about her role remain closely guarded. Liza Colón-Zayas is also making her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, aside from Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the rest of the film’s cast has been largely kept a secret until now.

Spidey fans, get ready for the mother of all adventures because Jon Bernthal has officially signed on to reprise his role as The Punisher. To date, Frank Castle has remained confined to the small screen in the MCU. But according to THR, Bernthal’s lethal vigilante is now set to join Spider-Man’s newest adventure. The nature of Castle’s involvement in the film remains a mystery, but given Frank’s less-than-friendly demeanor, you can bet the house on The Punisher clashing with our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler.

SPIDER-CAST!

What’s more, THR is also reporting that Spidey’s regular companions will be returning for this new adventure. That’s right, Zendaya will be back as MJ, and Jacob Batalon will be reprising his role as Ned. Again, how the duo will feature in the film remains to be seen. Last we saw the duo, they had all knowledge of Peter wiped from their memories, and with college beckoning, their paths seemed destined to go their separate ways. So, director Destin Daniel Cretton has his work cut out for him to include Zendaya and Jacob Batalon in anything more than a fleeting role.

MORE ADDITIONS

Fans will now begin to speculate about who will join Spider-Man: Brand New Day next. Rumors have been circulating for a while that Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk will make an appearance in the film. But now, with Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher confirmed to feature, all eyes will be on Marvel to bring Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in to complete the heroic trio. After all, in the comics, the trio makes a sensational team, so fans will be licking their lips at the potential storyline, especially if it links to the finale of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

BERNTHAL BRILLIANCE

Jon Bernthal first portrayed The Punisher in Netflix’s “Daredevil” series before starring in his own show, which ran for two seasons. He recently returned for the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” and will also star in and co-write a “Punisher” Special Presentation for Disney+. Most recently, he stole the show in Ben Affleck’s brilliant sequel, The Accountant 2, which is now streaming on Prime Video.

It seems fitting that Jon Bernthal will finally appear alongside Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After all, the two actors famously assisted each other with their auditions for their respective roles. Therefore, seeing The Punisher team up with Spider-Man feels like a well-deserved reward for both actors, who are at the peak of their careers. Add Zendaya and Jacob Batalon into the mix, and Destin Daniel Cretton has a recipe for success. The director recently helmed Shang-Chi And The Legend of Ten Rings for Marvel, making him the perfect choice to succeed Jon Watts in the director’s chair. Exciting times ahead for Spidey fans!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to shoot in England this summer and is already slated for a July 31, 2026, release.
