Are you ready for round 2? Warner Bros has finally released the trailer for Mortal Kombat II. The long-awaited sequel completed filming last year, but the SAG-AFTRA strikes forced a pause, resulting in several delays to its scheduled reshoots. However, with director Simon McQuoid now putting the final touches on the film, it is almost ready to debut on our screens in October. And boy, does it look epic!

The trailer delivers everything but the kitchen sink. We’ve got Johnny Cage in action, Kitana looking lethal with her iconic weaponry, and we even get a long overdue “Get over here!” from Scorpion. But before we finish him! Check out the trailer below.

SYNOPSIS

From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat II. This time, the fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

THE CAST & CREW

Director Simon McQuoid returns to helm the follow up to his explosive 2021 cinematic adventure, from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the videogame created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The film is produced by Todd Garner, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, E. Bennett Walsh and McQuoid, and executive produced by Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Slater and Lawrence Kasanoff.

RELEASE

What a phenomenal new trailer. Although the first installment in the series was enjoyable, it failed to truly stick the landing due to its lack of authentic characters. Thankfully, the studio is rectifying that with the sequel, and it is brimming with characters as a result. Karl Urban looks made for this franchise, and it’s great to see him thrust front and center in the sequel. But can Mortal Kombat II truly deliver a flawless victory at the box office?

With Simon McQuoid returning as director and composer Benjamin Wallfisch back for the soundtrack, this film has all the signs of being an instant hit, and we cannot wait!

Mortal Kombat II will be released in the UK on October 24, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
