James Gunn has announced that “Man of Tomorrow” will be the next chapter in DC Studios’ Superman saga.
The next Superman adventure is officially a go at DC Studios. James Gunn has confirmed that Man of Tomorrow will officially continue the Superman saga. David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult will all reprise their roles from this summer’s DC blockbuster. Gunn teased that the film will continue to follow the struggle between the Man of Steel and his nemesis. However, it won’t be a traditional sequel. What’s more, the film has already secured a July 9, 2027, release date. This hints that the film is already on a fast track.
The visionary director has shared a stunning new image to celebrate the announcement. The artwork, created by the legendary Jim Lee, depicts Superman alongside his nemesis. The nemesis now wears his iconic green and purple Warsuit. Take a look at the artwork below.

A FAMILIAR CAST
In addition to David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, it appears that Isabela Merced will return as Hawkgirl. She recently hinted at her return by replying to James Gunn’s social media post with “See you soon.” This suggests that Hawkgirl will return to action alongside her Justice League teammates. Could this mean that more heroes will join her? Only Gunn knows the answer to that.
RELEASE
However, it’s encouraging to see that the Man of Steel is getting a sequel so soon after his debut this summer. This reflects Warner Bros’ confidence in James Gunn’s newly established DC Universe, which is already off to a strong start. With Craig Gillespie currently fine-tuning his Supergirl movie and James Watkins shooting Clayface in the UK, the revamped DCU is progressing more quickly than a speeding bullet.
Sadly, it seems that Alan Ritchson has been ruled out of becoming Batman; however, the actor remains committed to joining Gunn’s new universe in some capacity. But with the Superman Saga officially underway and the Dark Knight waiting in the wings, the revamped DCU appears to have established solid foundations. And long may it continue.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow will release in cinemas on July 9, 2027.
