MUBI releases the official trailer and new stills for Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, starring Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, and Elle Fanning.
MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service, and production company, is excited to announce “Sentimental Value,” the highly anticipated new film from Academy Award nominee Joachim Trier. He is known for “The Worst Person in the World” and “Oslo, August 31st”. The film will hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on December 26. To mark the announcement, MUBI have released the UK trailer and three brand new stills. The film will receive its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 12 October 2025. The film was recently selected as Norway’s submission for the 2026 Academy Awards.
Directed by Joachim Trier and co-written by Trier and long-time collaborator Eskil Vogt (The Worst Person in the World, Oslo, August 31st), Sentimental Value stars Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World), Stellan Skarsgård (Dune), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (A Beautiful Life) and Elle Fanning (A Complete Unknown).
SECOND COLLABORATION
This marks the second time MUBI has worked with Trier, having distributed his last feature film, The Worst Person in the World, in the UK, Ireland, India and Turkey. The film received two Academy Award® nominations for International Feature and Original Screenplay. Two BAFTA Film Award nominations for Leading Actress for Renate Reinsve and Film not in the English Language, amongst others.

THE PREMISE
Sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father. The charismatic Gustav, a once-renowned director, offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star. Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father. And deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics.
Sentimental Value will be in cinemas on December 26th.
