Start Running Again As The Running Man Sprints Towards Home Entertainment

Glen Powell is Ben Richards in the new adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, The Running Man. See the new trailer and poster here.

On November 14th, The Running Man will return. This new version of the story is more in line with Stephen King’s original book. Glen Powell takes the role of Ben Richards with able support from William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, with Colman Domingo and Josh Brolin. The film follows Ben Richards as he participates in a game show called The Running Man, in which murderous Hunters chase contestants across the world to win money. The new trailer and poster for the film have raced in. Lace up your running shoes as we take our new look.

Back in 1987, the original version of The Running Man hit cinemas. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the film was loosely (and I mean loosely) based on the novel by Stephen King, written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Despite having some moments of quality and vague references to the book, the film was a vehicle for Schwarzenegger, action-packed and violent, but bore little resemblance to the story King had written.

PREMISE

In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television. A deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. With every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public, and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favourite. And a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters but a nation addicted to watching him fall.
