It’s time to return to Oz! Check out the new character posters from Universal’s enchanting sequel, Wicked For Good.
We are still a month away from the release of Jon M. Chu’s Wicked For Good. Regardless, Universal Pictures is firing up the emerald-encrusted hype train to carry us back to Oz. Today, the studio released a string of glorious new character posters for the film featuring Glinda, Elphaba, The Wizard, Fiyero, the Cowardly Lion, and more. Although we have already been spoiled with a bunch of character posters, the latest crop reveals our beloved heroes and villains as they navigate their way through the epic finale of Chu’s enchanting tale.
Elphaba is depicted emerging from the shadows of the enchanted forest, while Glinda is shown within the confines of her luxurious bubble. The Cowardly Lion hides timidly behind a tree, the Wizard revels in the splendor of the Emerald City, and Madame Morrible conjures the tornado that will carry Dorothy Gale all the way from Kansas. And if that isn’t enough, Fiyero pledges his allegiance as he enters the woodlands of Oz. But don’t take my word for it. Click the heels of your Ruby Slippers and check them out below.
CHARACTER POSTERS

MORE TO FOLLOW?
These new character posters are glorious. The last poster in the bunch reveals that Colman Domingo will be the voice of the Cowardly Lion, which is such great news. His vocal range is impressive, so hearing his voice coming from the Lion is going to be really special.
There are three big missing pieces: the character posters for Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow. The trailers have shown that these classic Oz characters will feature in the movie, but the studio is keeping their final looks a secret for now. We still don’t know who’s playing Dorothy or who will voice the Tin Man and the Scarecrow. But fans who have seen the stage performance will know all too well how the story turns out. Let’s just say the marketing team at Universal has included some pretty big easter eggs in these posters, so if you’re looking to go in cold, don’t look too closely!
SYNOPSIS
After challenging the Wizard’s totalitarian regime in Oz, Elphaba must grapple with her identity as the “Wicked Witch of the West”. Meanwhile, the Wizard has given Glinda the title “Glinda the Good” and a public status as the nation’s defender against Elphaba. The two witches must make decisions that seal their fates in this second musical installment.

CAST & CREW
Director Jon M. Chu has assembled a fantastic cast to bring this magical sequel to the screen. The cast includes Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University’s regal headmistress, Madame Morrible. Jeff Goldblum also stars as the legendary Wizard of Oz. Rounding out the cast are Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, and Marissa Bode in her feature-film debut.
In my review of the first film, I said: “Jon M. Chu’s Wicked is a dazzling visual spectacle that works wonders with its material but falls short of brilliance. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-Butera deliver powerhouse performances that overcome some truly eye-rolling dialogue. They whisk us back to Oz with a musical blast. The cinematography is breathtaking, the score is superb, and the musical numbers are flawless. However, fans of the original movie will be put off by the narrative changes. These changes cast an unfavorable light on some of the IP’s legacy characters.” Read my full review here.
