The Jurassic Park trio are OFFICIALLY returning for Colin Trevorrow’s spectacular finale
Life finds a way…
A few months ago, rumours emerged suggesting that Jurassic Park veterans Sam Neill, Laura Dern and the unconquerable Jeff Goldblum had been lined up to make a spectacular return to the franchise for the final chapter of Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World trilogy. Bryce Dallas Howard had hinted at the prospect during a red carpet interview, but in the months that followed, the rumours died down and all talk of their involvement dissipated dashing the dreams of millions of fans around the world.
Cue John Williams’ iconic Jurassic Park theme!
It’s official. Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures have officially announced that all three Jurassic Park legends WILL be returning to the fold for Jurassic World 3. Neill, Dern and Goldblum will be joining Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard for the third (and rumoured to be final) chapter in the Jurassic franchise. Colin Trevorrow is returning to direct.
Here’s the official word:
When the whole world’s gone prehistoric, you call in the experts. Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are all set to reprise their legendary roles as Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm (respectively) in the third chapter in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World saga.
Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow return to executive produce the next chapter in one of the biggest franchises in the history of cinema. Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow for this instalment. Trevorrow will also continue to consult with Spielberg and Marshall on the management of the growing Jurassic brand, including video games, toys, novels, animated LEGO shorts and theme parks.
Joining the Jurassic team is Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising, The Black Hole), who has co-written the Jurassic World 3 screenplay with Trevorrow. They worked from a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who together co-wrote Jurassic World and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
This is incredible news. The prospect of witnessing the return of all three original cast members and incorporating them into what looks set to be a glorious finale to the series is an exciting prospect. And if the recent short film, Battle at Big Rock is anything to go by, Jurassic World 3 is going to be the mother of all movies. Sadly, this confirmation neglects to mention the extent of their involvement, or whether they will have an intricate part to play in the events set to unfold, but just having them back on screen together for the first time since 1993 is going to be something truly special and I cannot wait!
In Hollywood … life does find a way!
Jurassic World 3 will cause a global impact tremor in cinemas on June 11th, 2021.
