Get ready to boogie once again with Mark Wahlberg as Paul Thomas Anderson’s classic Boogie Nights skates onto 4K UHD for the first time.
Dirk Diggler returns! And this time, he’s in glorious 4K Ultra High Definition! Boogie Nights, the critically acclaimed 1997 New Line film from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Mark Wahlberg, will be available for purchase on 4K UHD, 4K UHD Steelbook, and Digital on 15th December. The film is regarded as a classic. Wahlberg cemented his status as a brilliant leading man in it. It is also famous for its closing shot. No spoilers, but I’ll just say that Dirk Diggler has incredible talent.. And no, we don’t mean in the acting stakes!
The story unfolds in the San Fernando Valley, a region of Los Angeles. It focuses on a young nightclub dishwasher who becomes a popular star of pornographic films, chronicling his rise in the Golden Age of Porn of the 1970s through his fall during the excesses of the 1980s. The film is an expansion of Anderson’s mockumentary short film The Dirk Diggler Story.
AWARD NOMINATIONS AND CAST
The film, crafted from an original screenplay by Anderson, earned three Academy Award nominations: Best Supporting Actor for Burt Reynolds, Best Supporting Actress for Julianne Moore, and Best Screenplay – Written Directly for the Screen for Paul Thomas Anderson. Reynolds won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, and Julianne Moore also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
The film features an all-star ensemble cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds, Don Cheadle, John C. Reilly, William H. Macy, Heather Graham, Nicole Ari Parker, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Anderson directs and writes the film, while Lloyd Levin, John Lyons, JoAnne Sellar, and Anderson himself produce it.
