Are You Ready To Witness Sean Combs: The Reckoning On Netflix?

Netflix unveils the teaser trailer, key art, and the premiere date for the four-part documentary series, Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

Sean Combs was regarded as one of the pioneers in rap. He was influential as a record producer and as a record executive. He is credited with discovering and developing musical artists such as the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher. He also helped other artists along the way. His track, “I’ll Be Missing You”, a tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G., is possibly one of the finest records ever produced and released. For years, it appeared the artist, also known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, could do no wrong. Of course, we know differently now. Following a sexual assault and abuse lawsuit from his former partner, Cassie Ventura, several more sexual misconduct lawsuits were later filed against him.

After facing charges of federal sex trafficking, transportation for prostitution, and racketeering, Combs spent time in jail, repeatedly denied bail. Earlier this year, the racketeering and sex trafficking charges were dropped, but Combs was convicted of transportation for prostitution. He is currently serving a fifty-month sentence, less the twelve months he has already served while held in custody. On December 2nd, Netflix is releasing the four-part documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

THE PREMISE

Diddy. Puff Daddy. Love. The public knows the hip-hop icon by many names — but who is the real Sean Combs? In a new four-part documentary by Emmy and Grammy Award–winning executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Emmy Award-winning director Alexandria Stapleton, Sean Combs: The Reckoning is a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend, and convicted offender. Born with an insatiable drive for stardom and a knack for spotting talent, Combs made a quick ascent through the ranks of the music industry with Bad Boy Entertainment and was crucial in bringing hip-hop to the pop masses and launching the careers of dozens of generation-defining artists like The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, and Danity Kane.

But along the way, and as detailed by his former associates, childhood friends, artists, and employees, something darker began to colour his ambitions. Through explosive, never-before-seen materials, including exclusive interviews with those who were once in his orbit, this documentary tells the story of a powerful, enterprising man and the gilded empire he built — and the underworld that lay just beneath its surface.
