Look out, Addams Family fans, because Eva Green is circling the role of Aunt Ophelia in Wednesday Season 3.
Get ready to click those fingers, because more members of The Addams Family are coming to Wednesday Season 3. As the season 2 finale played out to its inevitable conclusion, fans were aghast when the silhouette of Aunt Ophelia was revealed, locked in a cell beneath her mother’s house. What’s more, she had written “Wednesday Must Die” on the wall in her own blood. This was a chilling insight into what Netflix has planned for the series’s much-anticipated third season. But aside from the chilling teaser, more details about the next set of adventures have been locked inside the vault of the Addams mansion.
Thankfully, that is about to change, as Deadline reports that the cast of Wednesday Season 3 is expanding – and the news is BIG! According to the source, Netflix has reportedly cast Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia. You heard right, Eva Green is slipping into the blonde locks of Morticia Addams’ long-lost sister.
AUNT OPHELIA
The character has always played an influential role in The Addams Family’s adventures, but casting Eva Green represents a monumental shift away from the character’s classic portrayal. In the 1960s Addams Family series, Carolyn Jones portrayed both twin sisters. However, the actor used a blonde wig to distinguish Ophelia from her sister. So, Green’s casting represents a pivot from tradition. But one cannot argue with Green’s pedigree. The actor has delivered some incredible performances in dark and gothic material, so she will fit right into the adventures of Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday.
SEASON 3
Green has collaborated with Tim Burton multiple times in recent years, making her a fitting choice to join the series. She will now join Jenna Ortega and the rest of the Addams Family, which includes Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, and Joanna Lumley as Grandmama.
Where the events of Wednesday season 3 will take our beloved Wednesday remains to be seen. But with THING ready to click his fingers to the iconic theme tune, we are more than ready for another helping of woe at Nevermore Academy. In the meantime, both seasons of Wednesday are streaming on Netflix now.
