Look out, Star Wars fans, because Shawn Levy has confirmed that Thomas Newman will compose the score for Star Wars: Starfighter.
With cameras now rolling, Shawn Levy has shared fresh details about Star Wars: Starfighter. The hotly anticipated film stars Hollywood icon Ryan Gosling, who makes his franchise debut alongside the visionary director. But now, we have confirmation that a new composer will also be making his debut in the galaxy far, far away. During the recent episode of “On Film with Kevin McCarthy,” Levy revealed that Thomas Newman will be composing the score for his Star Wars adventure.
That’s right, the composer behind incredible soundtracks like Skyfall, Finding Nemo, Meet Joe Black, and The Shawshank Redemption is bringing his expertise to the galaxy far, far away. Check out the reveal below.
A NEW CHAPTER
What an incredible signing. Thomas Newman’s work is glorious, and his filmography to date is up there with the best in the business. But now, he joins a small fraternity of composers who have helped craft the soundscape of Star Wars on the big screen. To date, only John Williams, Michael Giachinno, and John Powell have created the sound of Star Wars on the silver screen. Still, with Ludwig Göransson back to compose for The Mandalorian and Grogu next year and Newman now boarding Star Wars: Starfighter, the future of the sound of Star Wars is in safe hands.
In addition to Gosling, Star Wars: Starfighter officially stars Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film is produced by Levy and Kathleen Kennedy. Executive producers are Ryan Gosling, Dan Levine, Mary McLaglen, and Josh McLaglen. The script is by Jonathan Tropper.

Shawn Levy has assembled an all-star cast to bring the adventure home, and judging by this news, the film appears to be one of the most anticipated Star Wars films to date. Exciting times ahead for the Star Wars universe.
