Sky has released the official trailer for the upcoming Sky Original series GOMORRAH – THE ORIGINS. It is a highly anticipated six-part prequel produced by Sky Studios and Cattleya, part of ITV Studios. This series expands the epic Sky Original crime saga inspired by Roberto Saviano’s bestselling novel. The series will launch in early 2026 on Sky and the streaming service NOW.
Set in 1977 Naples, the new series is an origin story tracing the criminal education of a very young Pietro Savastano. The story of how it all began — how the future mob boss will enter a criminal world. This all happens against the backdrop of a city in transformation: poor, rough-edged, marked by cigarette smuggling, and on the brink of the heroin era. Gomorrah – The Origins will offer a fresh perspective on the roots of Pietro’s power. It captures an era that shaped the face of modern crime.
Marco D’Amore directed the first four episodes of the series, serving as co-writer and artistic supervisor as well. Francesco Ghiaccio directed the final two episodes. The creators of the series are Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli, and Roberto Saviano, and Beta Film will distribute it internationally.
CAST
The series stars Luca Lubrano as the young and ambitious Pietro Savastano, Francesco Pellegrino (La Santa Piccola) as Angelo ‘A Sirena’, a reluctant gangster under pressure from a legacy he didn’t choose; Flavio Furno (Il Candidato) as ‘O Paisano’, a convict who is rallying followers for a new kind of Camorra; Tullia Venezia as young Imma, a gifted musician with dreams that extend far beyond Naples; and Fabiola Balestriere (Veleno) as Annalisa Magliocca – and yet-to-become Scianel, still a young mother under the fist of her violent husband. Other cast members include Antonio Buono, Ciro Burzo, Luigi Cardone, Antonio Del Duca, Mattia Francesco Cozzolino, Junior Rancel Rodriguez Arcia, and Antonio Incalza.

The prequel, Gomorrah – The Origins, is based on the bestseller “Gomorra” by Roberto Saviano, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli, and Roberto Saviano wrote the Bible and the outlines, while Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli, and Marco D’Amore crafted the screenplays.
PREMISE
Gomorrah – The Origins is set in Naples in 1977. Pietro is a tough city kid who grew up in the poorest parts of Secondigliano. He and his friends survive anyway they can, riding their mopeds around town and committing petty theft. But he has a big dream: to become like Angelo ‘A Sirena, the neighbourhood’s “king.” When he manages to get in the graces of the young boss, he finds himself caught in a power game far beyond him. He ends up wondering whether this dark, violent criminal life is really what he wants or if his love for Imma can save him from such a fate.
Gomorrah – The Origins will launch exclusively on Sky and streaming service NOW in early 2026.
