A New Poster for DC's Supergirl Swoops In From Metropolis

Truth. Justice. Whatever. James Gunn has released an all-new poster for DC’s Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock. Check it out here.

Just twenty-four hours before dropping the very first trailer, James Gunn has released an all-new poster for DC’s next tentpole project, Supergirl. We’ve known for a while that Milly Alcock has been cast as the new Girl of Steel, but until her impromptu cameo in her cousin’s big-screen outing, little was known about her new take on the character. By now, the majority of fans around the world know that a drunken Supergirl crash-lands into the Fortress of Solitude at the end of James Gunn’s blockbuster. And that prompted fans to speculate about the story we will see unfold when the film hits theaters.

TRUTH. JUSTICE. WHATEVER!

Thankfully, today we can add more meat to the bones of DC’s next blockbuster. The poster depicts Kara Zor-El in full costume, wearing a long brown trench coat, sunglasses, and a pair of old-school headphones. But perhaps the biggest eye-opener is the tagline Truth, Justice. Whatever, which offers a window into her state of mind. Check it out below.

SYNOPSIS

So far, the logline for Supergirl reads:

While celebrating her 21st birthday, Kara Zor-El travels across the galaxy with her dog Krypto, during which she meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll and goes on a “murderous quest for revenge”

CAST & CREW

The film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as  Zor-El, Supergirl’s father, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Supergirl’s mother. Former Aquaman star Jason Momoa will portray Lobo, an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia. However, after his sensational debut in Superman, perhaps the most significant addition to the cast is Kara’s beloved dog Krypto, who will be getting into all sorts of mischief.

James Gunn Shares First Look At Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

GIRL OF TOMORROW

Recently, Gunn revealed that Milly Alocock’s Supergirl will be a “total mess” in her solo outing. He explained that “She’s had a completely different background from Superman. A much more difficult background,” and this will be a defining factor in her edgy take on the character. While I found her drunken introduction tonally jarring, I am intrigued to see this new take on the character unfold. Gunn appears to be setting his stall out early, giving these characters demons to overcome before they emerge as the true heroes we know and love, and that is an enticing prospect.

RELEASE

It has now been confirmed that Ramin Djawadi will compose the film’s score. Djawadi famously composed the soundtracks for Iron Man, Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans, and Pacific Rim, so he is more than up to the task of bringing the sound of DC’s next blockbuster to life. Check back tomorrow for our coverage of the full trailer.

Look out, because Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl is swooping into cinemas in June 2026. Are you looking forward to the film? Let us know in the comments below.
