The First Trailer for Killer Whale Emerges From the Depths!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…the first trailer for Lionsgate’s Killer Whale has emerged from the depths. The hunt begins in January!

Move over, Jaws, because a massive Killer Whale has surfaced from the depths to claim its spot at the top of the food chain. Now, the hunt is swimming into theaters. The film, titled Killer Whale and released by Lionsgate, follows two vacationers who unintentionally become targets of a Killer Whale that has been released from a water park after attacking its trainer. The pair find themselves stranded in a remote lagoon monitored by the mammal, which quickly launches a terrifying attack on everyone in the area. And then, all hell breaks loose.

The film, directed by Jo-Anne Brechin, stars Halloween actress Virginia Gardner and Mel Jarnson, who was recently cast as Cammy in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Joining the duo in this battle against the Orca are Mitchell Hope, Ron Smyck, Scott James George, Isaac Crawley, Aliandra Calabrese, and Mia Grunwald. But before we become part of the food chain, check out the trailer below.

SYNOPSIS

Hold your breath as you witness revenge rise from the deep. After a life-shattering tragedy, Trish tries to comfort her best friend, Maddie, by taking her on a spectacular adventure in a private lagoon halfway across the world. Their peaceful retreat soon becomes a terrifying fight to stay alive when the ocean’s most bloodthirsty predator seeks vengeance for a brutal life in captivity.

POSTER

If the trailer isn’t enough to encourage you to take a detour to the desert island lagoon, the studio also released the first poster for the film. The stunning one-sheet shows the colossal Orca pursuing the two victims toward the relative safety of the beach. Take a look below.

RELEASE

Okay, Killer Whale looks like a phenomenal rollercoaster ride. The combination of Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson, and an enormous Killer Whale looks like an enticing prospect, and could easily become part of the Jaws mythos. Anyone who knows me will tell you about my love of creature features and my regard for marine creatures, so Killer Whale has shot straight to the top of my watchlist.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long for the film to arrive. The studio has confirmed that fans can expect theatrical, digital, and VOD releases on January 16. So, we only have four weeks left before we get to experience it. Bring it on!
