TRIGUN STARGAZE Review 2026

“TRIGUN STARGAZE was worth the wait. The series premiere is a satisfying reintroduction of this beloved world and the characters while setting the stage for what’s coming this season.”

Two years after the conclusion of TRIGUN STAMPEDE, fans can finally experience the final phase of the story with TRIGUN STARGAZE. The series premieres today on Crunchyroll.

STORY

TRIGUN STARGAZE picks up two years after Vash disappeared during the incident at Lost July at the end of STAMPEDE. Similar to the first episode of STAMPEDE, the series premiere of STARGAZE mainly focuses on the journalists and the state of the planet No Man’s Land. It is like poetry; it rhymes. Yes, it’s a sequel, but it’s also a new beginning. Thus, this episode reintroduces us to this world and to these characters. And the situation is pretty much the same for the people living on this desert planet – the plants are being stolen again. Yet, change is coming – the fleet from Earth is bound to arrive soon.

Moreover, Meryl Stryfe is now working with someone called Milly Thompson. That name should ring a bell for fans of the manga or the first anime. Indeed, Milly was an important character, a friend and assistant to Meryl. After being absent from STAMPEDE and Roberto De Niro taking on a similar role, she now makes her debut in this series. And yes, she uses her classic heavy concussion gun. She’s exactly how you’d expect her to be. Undoubtedly, she brings the fun as a comic relief.

This episode also gives us a glimpse at Eriks. Fans of the manga and the first anime know who Eriks is. And if you’re not familiar with either, you will understand very quickly who he is. The series premiere of STARGAZE is a satisfying reintroduction to this world, setting the stage for the season’s plot.

VISUALS

Furthermore, STARGAZE has kept the same animation style as STAMPADE. It’s still the best CG animation we’ve seen from Japanese animation. There is a scene with the fleet that is absolutely breathtaking. On top of that, the wide shots of the planet are pretty impressive with that incredible skyline. Clearly, there are several shots fans will want to use as their wallpaper. It is art. Plus, the characters styled to look like 2D animation fit perfectly with the scenery. The first series took five years to make, and we had to wait another two years for this one, but it was worth the wait. Studio Orange deserves another round of applause. It’s a massive work they have accomplished. The CG animation in this series is unmatched in Japan. What is really important with CG animation is the fluidity; it’s truly seamless here.
