Synopsis: Never-before-seen footage and recordings feature Elvis Presley in concert at his Las Vegas residency during the later stages of his career.

Cast: Elvis Presley

Cert: 12A

From the looks of the trailer, fans of Elvis will be blown away by what they will see. The film appears to be something special, one that will have audiences singing at the top of their lungs during the musical scenes.

SCREAM 7

Paramount Pictures- Released Friday 27th February

Synopsis: When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney has built a new life, her darkest fears are realised as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, she must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

Cast: Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox

Director: Kevin Williamson

Cert: 18

I saw the film last night. I’m saddened to report that the film, although enjoyable, isn’t one of the best in the franchise. I said in my review:

“While it’s not the weakest of the franchise, Scream 7 looks and feels tired. Ghostface has finally lost his cutting edge in a sadly predictable way. The wit is still there, but the formula has grown weaker. Instead of being a must-see horror movie for the ages, it becomes simply an enjoyable, amiable slasher film, which we pay our money to see people get killed in horrendous ways. In that respect, we do get our money’s worth, but it doesn’t grip us as it should. Suspense has gone out of the window, replaced by predictable set-ups that don’t scare us as they should.”

THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE

Walt Disney- Released Friday 27th February

Synopsis: Revered by her followers, Ann Lee preaches gender and social equality as the founder of the devotional sect, the Shakers.

Cast: Amanda Seyfried, Thomasin McKenzie. Lewis Pullman

Director: Mona Fastvold

Cert: 15

We saw the film at last year’s BFI London Film Festival, and didn’t come away too impressed. Our editor, Phil Roberts, said this about the film:

“Sadly, Mona Fastvol’s #TheTestamentOfAnnLee didn’t resonate with me.

Although the film crafts a brilliant historical setting, the jarring religious musical numbers and oddly choreographed worshipping didn’t land. Amanda Seyfried performs well, but even she can’t salvage this disaster. #LFF”

While I had this to say about the film:

“#TheTestamentOfAnnLee is an infuriating film that is neither dramatic nor enlightening.

When you’ve got a film that spends more time thinking it’s a musical instead of a true tale or dramatic story, you know you’re in trouble.

Not for me, sadly #LFF #londonfilmfestival #BFI”
