Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson suit up as Kratos and Atreus in our first look at Amazon MGM’s God of War series.
At long last, the God of War live-action adaptation has finally kick-started production, and Sony/Amazon MGM have already dropped the first sneak peek from the set. The two studios are collaborating with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions on the series, which has already been renewed for a second season. The series follows Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson as Kratos and Atreus, respectively, navigate the perils of Norse Mythology. The series is based on the hugely popular game franchise.
But before we get to the juicy details, take a look at the image below. The image depicts Kratos helping Atreus sharpen his bow-and-arrow skills.

The God of War series will follow Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.

RELEASE
What a phenomenal first look. Whether it’s the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie or God of War, Amazon MGM looks intent on delivering projects that are true to their origins, and that is most refreshing. So far, the God of War series looks incredibly true to its game origins, and Hurst and Vinson look perfectly cast.
The studio has incredible faith in the property, especially after renewing the series for a second season before we’ve even seen a single shot of film. Such is the studio’s confidence in the project. That, along with some impressive production values, makes this new series a shoo-in to dominate our watchlist for quite some time.
