Prepare to enter the Neogenics era of the MCU as Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes us into the mutant timeline!
Look out, Spider-Man fans, because the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has landed. With the film swinging into cinemas in July, the first trailer has finally delivered our first look at what we can expect, and boy, Marvel fans are in for a treat. The trailer reveals the first meeting between Spidey and The Punisher, Peter Parker meeting Bruce Banner, and Spidey battling against Scorpion. But in a shock twist, the trailer reveals that this next chapter of the Spidey legacy will feature one of Marvel’s most beloved sagas: The Neogenics saga. But before we dive into the ramifications of the plot, let’s watch the trailer in all its glory.
SYNOPSIS
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
THE NEOGENICS SAGA
What a phenomenal first trailer. It is an absolute joy to watch Spidey interact with The Punisher, but the elephant in the room is the Neogenics storyline, which will change the dynamics of the MCU. For those not familiar with the storyline, it revolves around Peter Parker’s DNA, which begins to degenerate due to the lingering effects of the radioactive spider bite. The storyline finds Parker desperately seeking a cure before his DNA mutates, transforming him into the gruesome Man-Spider creature.
The plot eventually led him to a chance meeting with the X-Men, Marvel’s famous mutants, leading to an epic showdown between Spidey and Wolverine. So, if this is the direction the filmmakers intend to steer the film, fans could be about to enjoy the best Spider-Man film ever committed to film.

CAST
Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man. In Brand New Day, Jon Bernthal joins the cast as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Zendaya will return as MJ, and Jacob Batalon will reprise his role as Ned. Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, stars in an unspecified role rumoured to be Gwen Stacey, and Liza Colón-Zayas is new to the franchise. Recently, Mark Ruffalo has been added to the cast as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Michael Mando will reprise his role as The Scorpion.

RELEASE
It seems fitting that Jon Bernthal will finally appear alongside Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After all, the two actors famously assisted each other with their auditions for their respective roles. Therefore, seeing The Punisher team up with Spider-Man feels like a well-deserved reward for both actors, who are at the peak of their careers. Add Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Mark Ruffalo into the mix, and Destin Daniel Cretton has a recipe for success. That, coupled with the Neogenics storyline, means fans can now look forward to the most significant Spider-Man movie of all time.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into cinemas on July 31, 2026.
